Brent Morgan is an experimental psychology PhD student working in the Institute for Intelligent Systems, the Cognitive Science Lab, and the Advanced Distributed Workforce Co-Lab at the University of Memphis. He is interested in intelligent tutoring systems, modeling student knowledge, computational linguistics, strategy change, and game design.
Background
Brent received his bachelor’s at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee with a degree in psychology. In 2008, Brent spent 3 months working for the Advanced Distributed Learning Hub in Alexandria, Virginia. Currently, he is involved in a project with Sandia Laboratories exploring the mechanisms of strategy change as they relate to naval aviators. Within the ADL Co-Lab, he is involved with developing a new model of student knowledge within intelligent tutoring systems, called the Learner’s Characteristics Curves. Brent has been interested in game research for many years, and previously contributed to the development of an ITS in a game environment, called Operation ARIES.
