Fazel Keshtkar is currently a research scientist in the Institute for Intelligent System and Department of Computer Science at the University of Memphis. Currently, He leads in developing AutoMentor’s Natural Language Generation module and Question Generation for AutoMentor system.
Background
Fazel Keshtkar received his Master’s degree in Computer Science and PhD degree in Computer Science from University of Ottawa, Canada in Jan 2007 and April 2011, respectively. During his graduate studies, Fazel mainly worked on Sentiment and Emotion Analysis and Generation. He applied his model to automatically detect emotion expression in text. He also developed a system that can generate text to express emotion.
Fazel’s research interests span the areas of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and statistical Natural Language Generation (NLG), and text analysis and generation. He is interested in combining NLP and NLG techniques in cooperation with Machine Learning algorithms for various NLP and NLG tasks, especially, unstructured text such as blog’s corpus. To be more specific, he is currently working toward the following problems:
- Paraphrase Extraction and Generation
- Sentiment and Emotional Analysis
- Mood Analysis & Classification
- Generating text to express emotion via NLG
His publications are in the areas of artificial intelligence and natural language processing and generation. F. Keshtkar is a member of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL). He is a reviewer/co-reviewer of many NLP and CL conferences and journals.
