Sidney D’Mello is presently a research assistant professor in the Institute for Intelligent Systems at the University of Memphis. His primary research interests are in the affective, cognitive, and learning sciences. More specific interests include affective computing, artificial intelligence in education, human-computer interaction, speech recognition and natural language understanding, and computational models of human cognition. He has authored over 100 papers and presentations in these areas. D’Mello received his PhD. in Computer Science from the University of Memphis in 2009. He also holds a M.S. in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Memphis and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Christian Brothers University.
