Mentoring in Online Games (2008-2009)
A $25,000 unrestricted gift from the Walt Disney Company funds research into the form and function of mentoring in an online game. Using data from the Urban Science game, this research focuses on (a) whether and how online mentoring differs for different aged players; (b) whether and how online mentoring differs from face-to-face mentoring in the game; and (c) what computational models can describe mentor discourse in the game.
